Postdoc position in Molecular Genetics Applied to Phytopathology and Plant Breeding

Postdoc position available immediately for working on the research project “Common bean response to the root knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita: QLT mapping, transcriptional profile and functional studies of candidate resistance genes”.

The successful candidate will work at the Laboratory: Molecular Genetics of Crop Plants under the supervision of Professor Maria Lucia Carneiro Vieira at “Luiz de Queiroz” College of Agriculture, University of Sao Paulo, Piracicaba, SP, Brazil (https://en.esalq.usp.br/).

Applicants must meet the following requirements: Doctoral degrees in Agriculture (Crop Sciences) or Biological Sciences (e.g., Plant Genetics, Phytopathology, Plant Molecular Biology), with expertise in DNA analysis and manipulation. Previous experience and training (not mandatory) in genome editing (CRISPR-Cas, for instance) and RT-qPCR is of interested.

Our research program integrates the following approaches: high throughput phenotyping, the construction of mapping populations, linkage and QTL mapping, transcriptional profiling and candidate genes discovery, RT-qPCR validation, gene editing with the aim of assisting the selection of common bean genotypes resistant to root-knot nematode.

Applicants please submit an application to bruna.marques.moreno@usp.br and mlcvieir@usp.br along with a CV, and contact information for at least one professional reference. Following the first selection step (based on their CV), the successful applicants will be invited to an interview (online, or in person, depending on the applicant availability).
